The Text Template Editor is where you create and update text message templates. It's made up of two cards: the Settings card at the top and the Content card below it.
How to get there: Go to Automation β Message Templates, then click on any text template.
The Text Template Settings Card
The Settings card holds all the configuration options for the template:
Expanding/Collapsing the Settings Card
Click the show/hide toggle (the "chevron" expand/collapse icon) in the top right corner to show more settings controls. Click it again to hide them again.
β
βTemplate Name Type a name for your template here. This is what you'll see in the templates table and in the template select list when sending messages.
Who Can Send This Template controls which staff and location(s) can use this template. It contains a pair of select lists which are controlled by Hierarchy Type:
Location(s) is the default value for Hierarchy Type. When selected, the select list to the right of it will contain various locations, areas, regions, etc. as well as "All" and "Corporate Only" selections. "Corporate Only" means only people in the corporate office can send the template.
Brands is another Hierarchy Type option if the Brands feature is enabled. The select list to the right will change to "Brand" and you'll be able to select a brand. Locations operating under that brand will have access to this template.
Location Group is another Hierarchy Type option if the Location Groups feature is enabled. The select list to the right will change to "Location Group" and you'll be able to select the location group you want to give access to.
If Communication Types is enabled, Communication Type Indicates how the template is categorized.
If Template Groups is enabled, Template Group assigns the template to a group.
If Template Tags is enabled, you can click the Tags button to assign tags to the template.
Note: System-locked tags (like "Used in Workflows" and "Used in Drips") are applied and removed automatically. They cannot be edited manually.
Click the Archive checkbox in the bottom right of the card in order to hide this template from the Message Templates table.
The Message Card (Bottom)
The Message card is where you write the body of your text message.
Type your message in the text area.
Use the Variable Tags button to insert dynamic values like the parent/guardian's first name or the center's name.
Click the Preview Template (eye) icon to preview the template, how it will look when sent to a guardian named "John Doe".
Click the Emoticons (smiling face) icon to select emojis to insert into the message wherever the cursor is.
Keep an eye on the character count indicator so your message stays within standard text message limits.
Saving Your Changes
Click Save & Close to save all changes across both cards.
