Text Statuses

Learn more about what the statuses for your text messages mean

Written by Lisa Henkel

Here are the possible statuses you may see for text messages you send from our system:

Accepted - The message servicer has received your request to create the message from a Messaging Service and is determining the optimal 'From' number from your service.

Delivered - The message servicer has received confirmation of message delivery from the recipient's carrier.

Delivery Unknown - The message has remained in the sent status for longer than 1 hour without receiving a further status update.

Failed - The message could not be sent. This can happen for various reasons including queue overflows, account suspensions and media errors.

Queued - The message servicer has received your request to create the message. All new messages sent from a specific phone number are created with a status of queued.

Received - An incoming message has been processed, and the message servicer has delivered the message to your number.

Sending - The message servicer is in the process of sending the message. This status is usually only present for a very short time, and in most instances will not be visible in the console or logs.

Sent - The message servicer has received a confirmation that the message is on the way to the recipient's carrier.

Undelivered - The message servicer has received a delivery receipt indicating that the message was not delivered. This can happen for a number of reasons including carrier content filtering (i.e. spam filtering), availability of the destination handset, etc.
