1. Child’s Date of Birth
The child’s date of birth is the starting point for calculating immunization milestones.
If a valid date of birth is not recorded, LineLeader cannot determine the child’s age milestones. As a result, immunization due dates and overdue alerts cannot be calculated. Manage uses the CDC standard schedule to determine immunization due dates (based on the birthday of the child on file). While immunizations can be marked exempt and custom immunizations can be marked as annual, there is no way to change from using the CDC schedule for immunization reminders.
2. Immunization Schedules
For vaccines that require multiple doses, such as Hepatitis B, DTaP, Hib, Polio, MMR, and Varicella, LineLeader uses the required age milestones to determine when each dose is due.
Your organization may have customized immunization schedules or requirements. When custom requirements are configured, LineLeader uses those requirements when calculating due dates.
In general, the due date is based on the child’s date of birth and the age at which the dose is required.
3. Annual Vaccines
Annual vaccines, such as the flu vaccine, are handled differently from vaccines that follow a multi-dose schedule.
For these vaccines, the next due date is generally calculated as 12 months after the most recently recorded dose.
4. Immunization Statuses
LineLeader compares the doses recorded for a child against the applicable immunization schedule and assigns a status.
Up to Date: The child has received the required doses for their current age.
Due Soon: A required dose is due within the next 30 days.
Overdue: The required age milestone has passed and the child has not received the required number of doses.
Exempt: If an approved exemption is recorded for a vaccine or dose, it is excluded from due-soon and overdue alerts.
Inactive or Waitlist: Children who are inactive or on a waitlist are not included on active roster immunization alert cards.
Important Notes
Immunization status depends on the information entered into LineLeader, including the child’s date of birth, recorded vaccine doses, organization-specific requirements, and exemptions. Keeping this information current helps ensure that due dates and compliance statuses are calculated correctly.
Pro Tip: You can turn off immunization alerts for families if desired. It’s a toggle under the standard immunization section.
