Who can see it
The Upload Families Importer button is permission-gated. If you don't see it, your user account does not have the Upload Families Importer permission enabled. Contact your account administrator or manager to have this permission enabled for you.
How to find it
Go to the Families page.
In the top-right toolbar (next to Filters and Group Action), look for the folder-upload icon button. Hovering over it shows the tooltip "Upload Families Importer."
Click the icon to open the upload window, select your CSV file, and submit.
Once submitted, your file is queued for processing — you'll receive an email with the results when it's finished.
The email will summarize the upload results and include two files--one showing duplicate rows and the other showing errors which prevented upload. (The error reporting is in the last column.)
The duplicates file is just informational; one family will have been uploaded no matter how many times the data was in your file or already in your system.
The error file represents records that did not upload. You should go through the errors listed in the last column of that file, fix the issues, and re-upload the rows that previously errored out.
Formatting your file
The first row of your CSV must contain column headers exactly as listed below — only recognized headers are accepted. An unrecognized or misspelled header will cause the entire file to be rejected.
Each row represents one guardian and, optionally, one child. To include multiple children for the same family, use multiple rows with the same guardian information repeated.

Click the file below to download it to your device.
Delete the "Required" row and the two rows of example data.
Delete the last two columns; they are examples showing how you'd upload custom guardian or child fields.
Populate the template with your data, save it, and upload it.
